INTRODUCTION
Hello to all. My name is Meg Rutkowski and I am an Honors Candidate in the TLP program in University of Richmond's School of Professional and Continuing Studies. I will be teaching elementary school beginning in 2014. This site contains multiple activities for Second Graders on numbers and number sense. The activities are focused on teaching children to count by 2's, 5's and 10's to 100, counting backwards from 100 by 10's and and recognizing even and odd numbers.
To Navigate my site, you can begin by reviewing the topics under the unit notes page which will give you an overview of the Standards of Learning for Virginia, background information and vocabulary. You can then go to the "Stations" dropdown at the top of the site which will highlight the nine different activities I have created to teach skip counting, counting backwards and even/odd numbers. All of the materials are downloadable by right clicking or double clicking on the pdf icon. You can then open the document in a new window. There are also three other Stations including a literature station with books and classroom ideas for those books. There is a website station which lists three free websites with fun items for children to work on their skills. Finally, there is a teacher workstation for activities at the teacher's small group station.
I hope you enjoy what you find!
Regards, Meg
